Wonder Horse
Wonder Horse is a 60-minute script written by Miriam Needham. It is a highly physical, absurd piece of theatre that is inspired by the true story of Clever Hans, and is written to be performed by a cast of four - six performers.
The initial development and writing stage was made possible thanks to a Short Theatre Artist Residency from Blue Raincoat Theatre Company. It was then further supported thanks to an Agility Award from the Arts Council. It received dramaturgical support from Karin McCully (Literary Manager at Rough Magic) and Sian Ní Mhuirí (playwright and screenwriter).
A work-in-progress sharing of Wonder Horse was performed as part of Cairde Arts Festival Unveiled Showcase in July 2024. This sharing was co-directed by John Carty & Miriam Needham, and performed by Fiona Maria Fitzpatrick, Orla McSharry, Ultan Burke, John Carty, and Miriam Needham. It was made possible thanks to support from Cairde & Hawk’s Well.
